Board Positions – Job Descriptions

President

Provides overall leadership for TAPA, presides over Board meetings, and represents the pilot group in official matters.

Vice-President

Supports the President in daily duties and assumes leadership when the President is unavailable.

Secretary–Treasurer

Maintains accurate records of meetings, correspondence, and documents while also managing finances and ensuring transparency.

Captain Representative

Ensures the concerns of Captains are represented in Board decisions and provides a direct communication link between Captains and the Board.

First Officer Representative

Ensures the concerns of First Officers are represented in Board decisions and provides a direct communication link between First Officers and the Board.

Committee Chair & Co-Chairman – General Responsibilities

Chair

Leads the committee, presides over meetings, sets agendas, and ensures completion of initiatives. Coordinates with the TAPA Board and provides regular updates.

Co-Chairman

Assists the Chair in duties, assumes responsibilities in their absence, and helps coordinate committee member involvement.

Committee-Specific Descriptions

Aeromedical

Provides support for pilots with FAA medical certification, disability, or return-to-work challenges.

Air Safety

Monitors safety issues in flight operations, encourages pilot reporting, and promotes a culture of safety.

Aviation Security

Addresses aviation security and crew travel concerns, monitors TSA and company policies, and promotes awareness.

Catering

Collects pilot feedback on catering services and advocates for improvements in food quality and availability.

Event Review Committee (ERC) – ASAP

Reviews ASAP reports and ensures a non-punitive safety reporting culture.

Grievance

Handles pilot grievances, contract enforcement, and advocates for fair resolutions.

Hiring Review Board

Assists in recruitment, reviews applicants, and ensures fair hiring practices.

Hotel

Monitors layover accommodations for safety, comfort, and suitability. Coordinates with management to address concerns

Information Technology

Oversees pilot apps, websites, and digital systems. Provides feedback for improvements.

Jumpseat / Travel

Maintains reciprocal jumpseat agreements and ensures fair leisure travel access for pilots. Manages travel resources, partnerships, and pilot support for reliable accommodations.

Negotiations

Supports bargaining by providing research, proposals, and data to ensure pilots’ concerns are represented.

Professional Standards

Promotes professionalism, peer-to-peer conflict resolution, and addresses interpersonal conflicts confidentially.

Scheduling / Payroll

Monitors scheduling and payroll issues, ensures accuracy, fairness, and compliance.

Special Requests

Handles unique or case-specific pilot issues not covered by other committees.

Training

Reviews pilot training programs, collects feedback, and advocates improvements.

Training Review Board

Reviews training failures, remediation, and appeals to ensure fairness in training outcomes.
